Gum depigmentation
Dark patches on the gums are common and harmless, but they can make a smile look dull. The laser gently removes the pigmented layer, and fresh, evenly pink gum heals in its place, usually within a week or two.
A dental laser produces a concentrated beam of light at a specific wavelength. Different settings let us cut or reshape soft tissue, disinfect, or, at low power, stimulate healing without any heat.
Low-level laser therapy (LLLT)
Also called photobiomodulation, LLLT uses gentle, low-power laser light that doesn't cut or heat tissue. It's painless, takes a few minutes, and can reduce pain and inflammation and support healing.
For soft-tissue procedures like frenectomy, gum contouring and excision.
| Laser | Scalpel / conventional | |
|---|---|---|
| Bleeding | Minimal, vessels sealed | More bleeding |
| Stitches | Often none | Usually needed |
| Anaesthesia | Often just a gel | Injection |
| Discomfort after | Usually mild | More soreness |
| Healing | Faster | Slower |
| Disinfection | Built in | Separate step |
Every case is different. We'll tell you honestly whether a laser is the right tool for your treatment.

Lasers are among the safest tools in dentistry when used by a trained dentist. You, your dentist and the assistant all wear protective eyewear, and the laser is set precisely for each procedure.
