Wisdom tooth removal in GurgaonGentle surgery, quick recovery.
Wisdom teeth often don't have room to come through properly. When they're impacted, partly erupted or causing repeated infection, removing them prevents further trouble. Surgical cases are planned with X-rays and handled by our MDS oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Vijay Siwach.

Signs your wisdom tooth needs attention
If you notice any of these, get an X-ray to see what's happening below the gum.
- Pain at the back of the jawA dull ache or sharp pain behind your last molar.
- Swollen, infected gumRepeated infection of the gum flap over a partly erupted tooth.
- Food trapping & decayFood packs between the wisdom tooth and the molar in front, causing decay.
- Bad taste or breathTrapped food and bacteria around the tooth.
- Stiff jaw, hard to openSwelling can make it hard to open your mouth fully.
- Seen on an X-rayAn impacted tooth, cyst or damage to the next tooth, even without pain.
Types of impacted wisdom teeth
An "impacted" tooth is stuck below the gum or bone. The angle it lies at decides how simple or complex the removal is. Tap a type to see it.
Vertical. The tooth is upright but trapped below the gum or bone. Often a straightforward removal.
Mesioangular. Tilted forward into the tooth in front. The most common type, and it can trap food and cause decay in the neighbouring molar.
Horizontal. Lying on its side against the tooth in front. Usually needs a surgical approach, with the tooth sectioned into pieces.
Distoangular. Tilted backwards towards the jaw. Can be more complex because of its angle.
Partially erupted. Part of the tooth has broken through. A gum flap over it traps food and bacteria, causing repeated infection (pericoronitis).
Fully bony impacted. Completely buried in the jawbone. Removed only if it causes problems, with 3D planning to protect the nerve.
Why remove a problem wisdom tooth?
Left alone, a troublesome wisdom tooth can harm more than itself.
- 01Protects the tooth in frontStops decay and bone loss on the back of your second molar.
- 02Ends repeated infectionsNo more painful swelling of the gum flap.
- 03Prevents cystsImpacted teeth can occasionally form cysts in the jaw.
- 04Easier cleaningNo more food trapping at the back of the mouth.
What happens on the day
Careful planning and a gentle technique for a smooth experience.
- 1
X-ray & 3D planning
An OPG shows the tooth's position. When it's close to the nerve, a 3D scan helps plan the safest approach.
- 2
Complete numbing
Local anaesthesia so you feel pressure but no pain. Laughing gas sedation is available if you're anxious.
- 3
Gentle removal
The tooth is eased out, sometimes in small sections, to protect bone and nearby teeth. Usually 20–45 minutes.
- 4
Stitches & gauze
Dissolvable stitches where needed, and gauze to control bleeding.
- 5
Aftercare & review
Written instructions, medicines and a check-up to make sure you're healing well.
Your recovery timeline

Wisdom tooth questions
Pain, recovery, dry socket and cost.
Does wisdom tooth removal hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so you feel pressure but not pain. Some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is normal and settles with prescribed medicines.
How long does recovery take?
Most people feel better in three to five days. The gum closes over in two to four weeks.
Should I remove wisdom teeth that don't hurt?
Not always. We only recommend removal when a tooth is causing, or is likely to cause, problems, such as repeated infection, decay in the next tooth or a cyst.
What is a dry socket?
A painful condition where the blood clot is lost from the socket, usually two to four days after removal. Avoiding smoking, spitting and straws helps prevent it. Call us if pain gets worse after day three.
Can I remove all four wisdom teeth at once?
Often, yes, depending on how complex they are. We'll plan what's most comfortable for you.
How much does wisdom tooth removal cost in Gurgaon?
The cost depends on whether the tooth is erupted or impacted and how deep it lies. You'll get a written estimate after your X-ray.
